On 6th August 2020, Dembe Group & DKT International made a donation of condoms worth UGX 2 Billion (USD $550,000) to the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF). The donation was made to fight against STDs and promote family planning in the Force and surrounding communities.
Anil Damani (CEO of Dembe Group) and Adim Damani (Director) delivered the condoms at UPDF’s Bombo Military Hospital in Luwero. The duo were received by Brig. Gen. Dr. Parick Ocen & Hon. Maj. Evelyn Assimwe, on behalf of the Chief Medical Services of the UPDF, Maj. Gen. Ambrose Musingunzi. The CooCondom Co-ordinator of the Ministry of Health, Vastah Kibirige said that MOH and its partners are committed to ensuring that all sexually active people in Uganda are able to access good quality condoms.
Hon. Maj Assimwe noted that in a week’s time, the intended clients both uniformed and civilians, would be able to access the condoms at no cost from all the UPDF health care units across the country.
